Touch Gold have 3 runners on this evening’s Meydan card, with Welford and Birmano going in the 1m handicap, whilst First Down makes his debut in the white and gold.

Both Welford and Birmano will hopefully benefit from their first run at Jebel Ali 2 weeks’ ago. Welford has already proven he handles Meydan well and the step up to 1m ought to suit one whose UK form came over considerably further. He goes in as rightful second favourite but Mightily, a horse we were interested in at the sales, looks tough opposition. Birmano has a bit to prove for now, though blinkers are applied and the trip could well help him too, while the handicapper has dropped him another 5lb and he has the help of stall 1.

First Down is already well established on the UAE scene, but he starts the year on a good mark and we hope to bring out more improvement from him. His draw in stall 11 makes life hard and ideally he’d have started over 7f, though he’s well in himself at home and hopefully he can make it into the prize money.
