The Dubai season really kicked into gear on Friday as Au Coeur got us off the mark for the year, running out an eased-down 6½ length winner of the 1m maiden.

It was the perfect start for the horse having his first run in the UAE, after being sold for just 45,000AED at the Racing In Dubai Sale in September, a price tag he has virtually already recouped after this success.

This was also Touch Gold’s sixth winner in the UAE, taking the syndicate strike-rate up to a very healthy 19%. He was beautifully prepared by Zabeel Stables and looks a really fun horse going forward, for a fantastic bunch of owners.

He’s come out of the race extremely well, and subsequently the handicapper has allotted him a mark of 79. The initial next aim for him will be a 1800m handicap back at Jebel Ali on the 12th January.
