Thursday sees the start of the 2019 Dubai World Cup Carnival and Touch Gold will have a notable representative on opening night as Raven’s Corner goes in one of the feature races, the $200,000 Group 3 Dubawi Stakes.

The 6f dirt contest sees 7 runners go to post, notably Garhoud Sprint winner Drafted, alongside last year’s Al Shindagha winner My Catch. The Doug Watson-trained pair look to set the standard here, though Raven’s Corner has been in great form since his promising return, which came when 3 1/2 lengths fourth behind Drafted in that aforementioned race.

It was all the more creditable given he missed the break by many lengths that day, and once again his pre-race demeanour will come under scrutiny, though there’s every reason to believe he will be thereabouts if he does behave. Richie Mullen once again takes the ride, and we wish him and all owners involved with Raven’s the very best of luck on an important night of racing.

Recent footage taken by Meydan Racecourse of Raven’s Corner at Zabeel, alongside next week’s Al Maktoum Challenge R1 runner and stable star North America, is below and well worth a watch:
