Touch Gold recorded a fourth success on the UAE season as First Down finally got his head in front in the 7f handicap at Jebel Ali on Friday.

Having hit the posts on a few occasions up the hill, First Down relished a more patient ride under Richie Mullen as he ran out a neck winner. Having travelled very well in behind, he still found himself in front a long way out and despite a nerve-wracking final 100yds or so, he did enough to hang on from the fast-finishing Spirit Of Scotland (has since won).

We were delighted to get a win out of First Down, for a hugely enthusiastic bunch of owners. A 110,000aed purchase at the Horses In Training Sale in March, he paid nearly half back with this success, to add to 4 other cheques he’s picked up this season.
