Au Coeur was one of two purchases from the September 2017 Racing in Dubai sale. He’s only a medium sized sort, but very muscular and well put together, and he proved an absolute bargain at just 45,000 AED (around $12,000).
He was trained in France by Andre Fabre and ran just 3 times, where he showed fair ability in maidens.
However he stepped up instantly switched to dirt in the UAE, shedding his maiden tag on his first ever race for us at Jebel Ali on November 15th 2017. He also finished runner-up on his next 2 starts in handicaps, before twice going close in similar company.
After a well deserved summer off, Au Coeur returned with another valiant effort, finishing third over 1m again at Jebel Ali. He then dropped back to 7f for his next start in November, his first on the straight track and he ran out an impressive 4-length winner.
He missed the rest of the season due to a small setback, but returned from a year layoff in fine style to win a good handicap off a mark of 85 last month. It was his first try over 6f and he beat off some useful opposition having raced sharply from the start, producing a fast time as well.
Au Coeur was subsequently sold to race in Saudi Arabia where he is already a winner and has been competing at domestic Group 1 level.
