Birmano is a 4-y-o chestnut colt, bought from the September 2017 Racing in Dubai sale for 360,000 AED. He is ex-Godolphin owned and previously trained by Andre Fabre in France. He is a very muscular, powerful colt, and was our pick of the sale, both physically and on form. He vetted clean and has since been gelded and settled in well at Zabeel Stables, where he is trained by Satish Seemar.
Despite only racing on turf, Birmano already had some useful French form to his name, winning on debut before backing up that promise with solid runs in races that have worked out really well, finishing just behind horses that have since run to 107 and 108.
His sire Elusive Quality has produced some superb dirt horses over the years, including Smarty Jones and Quality Road and has already enjoyed success at Meydan with 5 individual winners on the dirt, including 2017 Godolphin Mile 4th Fitzgerald.
Birmano shows a lot at home, but on the track has been pretty disappointing so far, and despite numerous attempts to change fortunes, nothing has been able to work just yet. Given he’s a very good looking and exceptionally bred type, he’s still not one to give up on.
