With the Carnival now only a month away, Touch Gold take some significant steps forward towards it with 3 runners at Meydan on Thursday.

They’re led by Raven’s Corner, who makes his seasonal reappearance in the Listed Garhoud Sprint over 6f. This was the same race he intended to start in last year, though he was forced to withdraw after trouble in the stalls. Hopefully all goes better this time and that he has a positive experience to start the season, with this very much being used as preparation towards the Carnival.

35 minutes before that, Welford goes in the 10f handicap as he bids to follow up his recent success last month over 1m. Welford was an impressive 5 3/4 length winner that day and though the extra 2f here puts him into the unknown a little, along with a 9lb rise in the weights, he had form over this trip and further in Britain, and he looks in great shape at home. Richie Mullen will take the ride on both.

Last but not least, Speedy Move takes his chance in the penultimate race of the night, a handicap over 1m. Coming off a good run himself when second over 6f last month, he’s another who is going well at home right now and though has yet to really prove himself over 1m, he should give his usual honest account. With Zabeel having others runners in the race, we’re delighted to have the services again of Antonio Fresu who is a jockey we feel is riding extremely well out in the UAE.

It’s certainly going to be a busy and exciting night for the syndicate, and hopefully one which proves successful. We wish those involved all the best.
